WHO ARE WE?... We are a newly formed Queensland rescue group whose mission is to help adoptable, friendly dogs on death row in Queensland pounds to find permanent and loving homes. We are focused on the prevention of the suffering, neglect, abuse and cruelty to these animals by working with our local pounds and animal shelters in all aspects of animal rescue and public education – towards the end result of the placing of these discarded animals into previously checked safe and loving permanent homes. OUR GOAL… is to increase the number of successful dog adoptions in this state, and to educate potential dog owners about dog selection and care, and at the same time, saving lovely animals who have much to offer their new & potential owners. THE ANIMALS …All animals you see in the pounds on this site are in danger of being euthanized. Once an animal is in captivity and unclaimed, or surrendered they are on death row unless rescued by organizations such as ours, or members of the public and re-homed to a forever home. · These animals are incarcerated because they have been found roaming the streets because of inadequate fencing, or negligent and uncaring owners. · Many animals are given as gifts particularly around Christmas times and discarded in the New Year. · Many animals who have a fear of storms and who escape in terror and are captured find themselves on death row when the storm seasons are upon us. · Others find themselves surrendered to Pounds for "re-homing" when the thrill of owning an animal has worn off and their owner cannot be bothered with the realities and responsibilities of owning a forever animal. · In other cases, owners find their circumstances have changed in ways that do not allow them to take their best friends with them - however, the end result is that surrendered dogs are actually more likely to be put down immediately due to no restrictions in the time they must be kept before they are euthanized. In all of these cases, these animals lives are wasted if we cannot rescue as many as we can, and re-home them, all the time educating new owners, and making sure of limiting new numbers by desexing all animals before re-homing. Some animals are surrendered because of unfortunate faults such as biting, hostility or ingrained problems which unfortunately, we cannot rescue. WHERE YOU CAN HELP… effort on keeping your dog happy, healthy, and through loyalty to you - Please think carefully before rushing out to buy a dog simply because you see them here on borrowed time. A dog is a long term commitment, and you need to make sure you will be there for the life of the dog and that you are prepared to spend time, and in turn, they will be attentive to your needs and wishes. HAVING SAID THAT, YOUR SUPPORT… will help us to continue, and to help us grow and expand our rescue efforts.- whether through your adoption of an animal, or the volunteering of some of your time as drivers, or even your homes, as temporary accommodation carers while we find forever homes - or even something as little as a $5 donation will go a long way to helping us to save these beautiful animals. |
